about

fibertext was started in 2005 by five graduate students (enrolled in FIBR 752 Contemporary Theory & Practice) in the Fibers Department of the Savannah College of Art and Design. We discussed the blog phenomenon and the possibilities for connecting with graduate fibers students at other institutions.

Ultimately, we envision a forum for the exchange of ideas, images, questions, and challenges between students, alumni, practitioners, academics, and any others who are interested in the state of art, craft, design and culture as seen through the lens of fiber/textile art & design.

  1. Hello,

It is exciting to see that there is a fiberarts blog already up and running. We (the current graduate students at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville) made our own list-serve last year after expressing the need for contemporary discussion. please feel free to check out my website, it is my first attempt at web design, so I appologize ahead of time for any problems you find with it. I am in the process of changing it soon.

I am interested in hearing back from anyone else who is working multi-media with a base in textiles.

    Christine A. Holtz
